A waiver from the property owner is required before the city can remove graffiti from private property, and only graffiti that is visible from the public right of way is eligible for removal by city staff. The city does not guarantee paint matching.

Removal Methods

The city generally uses one of three methods of removing graffiti:

Painting--used on most walls and buildings.
Water blasting--used on unpainted concrete surfaces such as curbs, sidewalks, cinder block walls, etc., unless the surface is deteriorated.
Chemical removal--used on nonporous surfaces such as metal light poles, street signs, traffic control boxes, etc.

City staff and contractors provide graffiti removal services.

If the graffiti recurs call the Graffiti Removal line, (714) 960-8861, and request that the graffiti be removed again. However, if a location is frequently targeted by taggers, notify the Police Department at (714) 960-8825 for investigation.
