Kiwanis Club of Huntington Beach added the Ball Drop courtesy of our HB Fire Department at Meadlowlark Golf Course. Reverend James Pike added the emcee and auctioneer flair and humor with pizzazz. The money raised from this event will go to help children and families.

This special 911 event combined an opening ceremony with the actual Challenge that took participants - including HBPD Chief Harvey - through a grueling maze of physical creativity. There was a moment during the ceremony honoring 9 11 and its first responders, when a band member fainted. Luckily, and how apropos, that both Chief Harvey and HBFD Chief Haberle with team were on hand to assist in this side-incident.

In its 25th Anniversary year, this inductee group was certainly amazing. The highlight was the induction of Olympian and surfing great, Carissa Moore by way of video by an introduction by coach and surfing legend, Brett Simpson.

Senior Saturday was moved from Pier Plaza to her new home of the Senior Center in Central Park, and the event was welcomed with the "Together Again" slogan for all who attended, including Mayor Kim Carr. Sponsored by the Huntington Beach Council on Aging (HBCOA), the entire facility - inside and out - was promoting the groups and organizations that support our Senior community.
