Surf City Highlights - December 2020 - Rockin' Fig Vintage Surf Festival

A fun time for family and fans of the surfboard, as the 3rd Block of Main Street became a collective of vintage surfboards. Generations of surfboards from private collections and more were on display, with an Hawaiian-style opening, a Mayoral presentation, hula girls, music, 3rd Block restaurant and business deals - all in honor of the beloved Rockin' Fig Fignetti, a business owner, surf announcer, friend to many and entrepreneur, who has been a fixture the Surf City culture for decades.

A great way to enjoy Halloween 2020 with a 66 car plus drive thru event where stations along the Murdy Community Center gave out candy to families in their cars who enjoyed games of skill, photos and so much more fun. The Huntington Beach Fire Department, Huntington Beach Police Department, along with members of the Kiwanis Club of HB and Community Services employees spooked and spoiled the families who cautiously drove around the exterior to finally pick up their pumpkin!

With the health crises on everyone's radar, the safest way for our seniors to get the important information they and their families need, is for the Huntington Beach Council on Aging along with HB City staff, to bring the seniors to the vendors within the well-spaced-out parking lot of the Senior Center in Central Park. Another drive by event, the second at the time used by the facility, in order for senior services to continue. The much anticipated opening of the Navigation Center became closer to a reality with this first introduction event in the form of a ribbon cutting. HB City Council, County, State and Federal officials were there to dedicate this milestone for the City, who now enters into an agreement with operator Mercy House as the next step.
