The Assistance League, Huntington Beach, teamed up with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley and clothed more than 200 school children at the Huntington Beach Target. It was a first-time partnering with the Fountain Valley based Club.

One of the largest crowds came out to learn more about the men and woman of the HBFD. This year's Open House concentrated on the residences home itself, promoting the importance of smoke alarms as well as life-saving installed sprinkler systems. Live demos included showing the difference when using an installed sprinkler system while two identical rooms ignite into flames.

The Land Trust held this special recognition dinner at the Huntington Harbour Yacht Club, where it was part celebratory and a reality check with guest speaker, Dr.Charles Lester who painted dire warning about the erosion of the California coast. And the announcement was made more public, that the Land Trust mission of purchasing the last remaining 11.1 acres of the Bolsa Chica known as the Ridge and Goodell, has already reached over $650,000 dollars toward a one-million-dollar goal.
