Volunteer Escort Program - January kicked off Senior Services' new Volunteer Escort Program. The first trained volunteer escorts will begin assisting seniors with their errands, grocery shopping, and medical appointments. Some elders need a little extra help due to poor sight or other impairments. To meet this need, Senior Services developed the Volunteer Escort Program. Directed through the transportation program, volunteer escorts meet the client at their home, board the city vehicle with the client, and accompany them throughout errands to lend assistance. This position requires a commitment of one morning or afternoon per week. Completion of Friendly Visitor or Age Wave volunteer training, fingerprinting, and background check are also required. Please contact Diane Swarts 374-1544 if you are interested in becoming a part of the Volunteer Escort Program.
