Huntington Beach Ranked 10th in Poll of “Best Places to Raise a Family”

The City of Huntington Beach scored 10th in WalletHub’s 2024 ranking of more than 180 cities as the “Best Places to Raise a Family.” Other California cities in the top 10 included Fremont, Irvine, San Jose, and San Diego. On average, Americans move an estimated 12 times in a lifetime. Last year, around 25.6 million Americans, or 7.8% of the population, moved.

WalletHub's ranking of the 'Best Places to Raise a Family' was based on a comprehensive analysis of 182 of the largest U.S. cities. The evaluation considered essential family dynamics, such as the cost of housing, the quality of local school and healthcare systems, and the opportunities for fun and recreation. Each city was assigned a 'Total Score' based on 45 key performance indicators grouped into five categories, including family fun, health & safety, education & childcare, affordability, and socioeconomics.

Mayor Gracey Van Der Mark exclaimed, “This is great news for Huntington Beach. As a resident who raised my family here, I couldn’t agree more with this ranking. Surf City is an incredible place for families to call home, offering a perfect blend of recreation and excellent schools. We are truly fortunate to be a part of such a vibrant and thriving community with so much to offer.”
