He retired as the Port Boat Unit Lieutenant.
A Huntington Beach resident for nearly 30 years, Council Member Burns and his wife of 34 years have raised two awesome daughters in Huntington Beach and are blessed to have a great circle of friends and family within the City. An enthusiast of education and life-enriching experiences, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Accounting, a Minor in French, and a Master in Public Administration. He is fortunate to have travelled often and attended school twice in France.
Council Member Burns is a big believer in volunteerism and the need to place community service before self-service. He has served on many commissions and boards, including St. Bonaventure School Board and Finance Committee, Huntington Beach Citizen Participation Advisory Board, Long Beach City Employees Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors, and the Huntington Beach Community Services Commission.
