The Huntington Beach Public Library invites you to check out our new Diverse YA Book Lists online at the Teen Space! On the webpage created by our 2021 summer intern, Yusra Ahmed, you will find recommended reading lists which reflect multiple elements of diversity found within our collection.
Yusra's internship with HBPL was made possible by the Public Library Association's Inclusive Internship Initiative, which strives to increase diversity and inclusivity in libraries across the United States. Teens who intern through the Inclusive Internship Initiative are not only able to gain librarianship experience, but are also able to work on a specific connected learning project of their choosing based on their individual passions and interests.
We hope that you find these book lists helpful and enjoyable as we showcase how our Young Adult collection continues to evolve and grow to meet the need for increased diversity and inclusion in our libraries.
