Event Description

Every May, Chris Carr Park transforms its quaint oasis into a booming fish market. The "Ol' Fishin' Hole" Fishing Derby is presented by the City of Huntington Beach Community Services Department, HB Kiwanis, and California Department of Fish & Game. Students with special needs from local school districts (pre K-8) are provided with a day of friends, fishing, and fun! This event is coined as many of the students' favorite day of school. Volunteers help students bait hooks and pull in fish, while providing an opportunity for intergenerational discourse and lunch in the park. This event is free and includes lunch provided by the Kiwanis.
