Affordable Rental Properties - The City of Huntington Beach has partnerships with many local property owners to provide affordable rental housing for lower-income households. Each property is independently owned and managed. The eligibility requirements and application process will vary. HUD Assisted Projects - There is currently one apartment community in Huntington Beach that is subsidized directly by the U.S. Department of Urban Development (HUD) to provide affordable housing for lower income households. Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers - The Orange County Housing Authority administers the federal Section 8 housing assistance program in Huntington Beach. Participating households receive a direct rent subsidy from the Orange County Housing Authority. Call the Orange County Housing Authority at (714) 480-2740 for more information.

The Huntington Beach Fire Department conducts free home fire safety inspections for seniors.  You can also get a free smoke detector with a 10 year battery and carbon monoxide detector installed.  This free service is provided by Project SHIP senior home inspection program volunteers. You can schedule an appointment online or call 714-374-1615.
