Do the funny pages keep you rolling on the floor laughing? Do you have a collection of capes and masks in your closet ready for your heroic moment? Have you seen every episode of the Simpsons, ever? Or are you just looking for a fun way to kick off the summer with your family? Great News! The largest FREE Comic Arts Festival ever staged in North America is coming to Huntington Beach! NCSFest is a celebration of comics and cartoon art from all over the world. Based on the comic art festivals that are hugely popular in Europe, the festival will be held over the weekend of May 17-19, 2019. This is a fantastic chance to meet more than one hundred of the world’s most renowned creators in comic and illustration art. The weekend will also be filled with dozens of great events including: family zones, workshops, book readings, demos, exhibitions, a marketplace, zombie walk, and a Giant Comic Strip on the Pier.
Formed in 1947, the National Cartoonists Society is regarded as the most prestigious organization of professional cartoonists in the world, with such legends as Peanuts creator Charles M Schulz, Walt Disney, Rube Goldberg and Milton Caniff among its alumni. Today’s membership numbers more than 400 eminent cartoonists and many of these world famous creators are appearing at NCSFest. The NCS will also stage its annual Reuben Awards – the comics and cartoons equivalent of the Oscars – during the Festival.
