2019 Ocean Debris Art Contest

In collaboration with the Surfrider Foundation - Huntington Beach/Seal Beach Chapter and International Surf Museum, the City of Huntington Beach Environmental Board hosts 2019 Ocean Debris Art Contest!

Celebrate our oceans, waves, and beaches by creating a masterpiece that uses or depicts ocean debris and the solutions to it with the artwork that encourages people to take care of and respect where we live, work, and enjoy our oceans.

Five Winners in each of two categories:

  • Middle School (Grades 6-8)
  • High School (Grades 9-12)

Contest Rules

Artists must live or attend school in Huntington Beach. Artists may use the medium of their choice. Artwork should include, or depict, debris from the beach or ocean and ways to keep it from ending up there. Artwork footprint should not exceed 11"x18" (size for posters or base for 3D works within maximum 11" depth).


Art should be dropped off at HB City Hall (4th floor) include your name, title of the artwork, the school you attend, grade, address and email information with your artwork. Limit one submssion per person.
