Mayor's Award February - Corey Landrey, Public Works
posted on 03/06/2019.

Corey Landrey came to work for the City of Huntington Beach in 2007 as an Electrician. From his first day, he has provided excellent service and quality work for the City. Corey is extremely courteous, professional and dedicated and always ensures that he performs his work at the highest standards.

Corey has been a stellar employee for over 12 years.  He has been instrumental in keeping equipment operating to meet the needs of all City Departments and facilities. There have been several special projects that Corey has taken an important role in. These projects include the recent STEM project that installed a battery system at City Hall in order to save energy at peak energy-use periods, which will save the City nearly $80,000 per year. During this project, he worked to ensure the City backup generator was working to carry the load of the Police Department and essential City computer systems and completed maintenance of an aged circuit breaker ensuring City Hall was on line with the power.  Corey performed extensive planning and coordination with all stakeholders prior to the outage and worked through the entire outage to ensure the work was completed properly and up and running over the weekend.

He also played a major role on the Huntington Central Park Transformer Replacement project. These aged transformers provide power to the Central Library and other facilities in Huntington Central Park.  His technical support and expertise was a key to the success of the installation of the solar panels at City Hall, the Central Library, and the Corporation Yard. These solar panels will provide solar power to these facilities and will do so for many years to come.

Corey is willing to be on emergency call-outs and responds when there has been a power outage or equipment failures at night and on weekends. He is a team player and always is helping others in the Building Maintenance Division, as well as many areas in light of the tight resources available.

When not at work, Corey is busy raising his two beautiful boys. In his spare time, he enjoys surfing, fishing, camping and spending time with family.
