The City is now accepting applications for the Harbor Commission. The Commission established by the City Council will begin meeting in February 2019 to facilitate a holistic management of the Huntington Harbour and to serve as an advisory body to the City Council on matters pertaining to the Harbour. The Commission will be comprised of seven members and will study and provide advice to City Council on the following matters:
- Waterway safety
- General infrastructure (e.g. seawalls, pier head lines, etc.)
- Water Quality
- The Harbor Commission may study, report, and analyze issues regarding the Huntington Harbour and may assist in securing financial support for the Harbour, its beaches, parks, and recreational needs. The Commission may advise the Council on all Huntington Harbour related improvements proposed by the City and make recommendations to the City Council for adoption of regulations and programs related to the goals, objectives, and policies of the Harbour.
