Huntington Beach Lifeguard Tryouts Saturday, February 17

What:      The City of Huntington Beach is hiring approximately 20 responsible men and women to provide first line protection to the City’s beaches. The performance exam will take place at the Lifeguard Headquarters, south of the Pier.

When:    Saturday, February 17 at 8 a.m. at Lifeguard Headquarters located at 103 Pacific Coast Highway, one block from the Pier

Exam:     Performance exam consists of three physical events (subject to change):

  • 1000 - yard ocean swim
  • 500 – yard ocean swim (surf sprint)
  • 1,500 – yard run-swim-runEvents are conducted in prevailing conditions around and through the Huntington Beach Pier. Applicants must satisfactorily complete all performance exam events to be eligible for further consideration. Top qualifying candidates will be invited to an oral interview on Sunday, February 18, 2018.  

Who:       Applicants must be 17 by June 1, 2018 - Proof required (Age 16 for HB City Beach Junior Guards who have received rank of Captain and are recommended by MS Management)

Pay:         Beginning pay is $18.65 an hour with a five percent increase for EMT certification and five percent increase for passing a bilingual exam.
