City Launches Citizens Academy - Update: Class is FULL
posted on 05/01/2017.

5/16/17 UPDATE: The City was overwhelmed with applications with more the 100 received to date. To accommodate the high level of interest, we increased the class from 20 to 30 attendees and started a waiting list for the next session. Thank you for all the interest in this exciting new program!

The City of Huntington Beach is now offering its first, citywide Citizens Academy. Championed by Mayor Barbara Delgleize, the Citizens Academy is a nine week program designed to teach residents and business owners about the City and the services it provides.

Starting June 21 from 6 to 8pm, participants will meet with City Council members, department head and staff to learn about how decisions are made, how city funds are allocated, and how each department operates. The program will also incorporate tours of city facilities, discuss future plans for the city, and conclude with a graduation acknowledgement at a city council meeting.

The program will encourage public involvement and will be free of charge. Space is limited to 20 participants. For more information, contact Antonia Graham at 714.536.5537.  Applications due June 2! See attached form to apply.
