A cloudy, overcast day provided a more somber Run this year. The Members of the 3-1 Marines were deployed this year and was not with the organization/City who adopted them and conduct this fundraising event in their honor. In their place, the wives and children of the Thundering Third was featured as thoughts loomed large on the recent loss of 3-1 co- founder and former HB Councilman and Mayor, Gil Coerper and the former 3-1 executive director, Cindy Cross. It was still a morning that demonstrates the enormous support the adopted Marines and their families have in Huntington Beach.

The Huntington Beach Youth Shelter, a Community Services Program contributor, held a lavish and well-received fundraiser at the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa. Silent and live auctions were only highlighted by the donated food and wine from area restaurants and wineries.
