The women’s organization came together for a luncheon and fashion show at meadowlark Country club. Members wore fashions from Chico’s, as vendors also demonstrated goods and services to benefit the causes of the Soroptimist of Huntington Beach.

The annual quest from the HB Tree Society to plant a new tree to commemorate the day continued this tradition at the Newland House. This year’s tree was dedicated to Elaine Craft, who usually writes and reads poems about Arbor Day. This day, others read poems on her behalf, including Norma Gibbs, the first Woman Mayor of Huntington Beach, and a fan of the HB Tree Society, as well as Elaine Craft herself.

The Waterfront Beach Resort, A Hilton Hotel, was the scene for a fun-filled evening to raise monies for student scholarships. The event highlights included headliner and contributor Bill Medley of Righteous Brothers fame and a winning opportunity to sing with the Rock N Roll Hall of Famer for Jerry Wheeler, President and CEO of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce.

The group picked fruit in the backyard of a donor and collected many pounds which would later go to various organizations in Huntington Beach, including the Youth Shelter.

The City of Huntington Beach and their Community Services Department teamed up with the Kiwanis Club of Huntington Beach for their 20th celebration of youth, fun and family….and lots of candy! The coordinated effort between the two is a great example of how it all can work for the better good of a community.

The biggest fundraiser of the year outside of their popular thrift store, AL serves an enormous role for many causes and organizations in the Huntington Beach area. The reach of AL goes almost everywhere. The all women, all volunteer organization, raised over $100,00 dollars at the Hyatt Regency through a silent auction, live auction and fashion show.
