The Friends of the Children's Library (FOTCL) is a volunteer support group dedicated to promoting children's interests in literature, reading, and the use of library services. We sponsor a variety of educational programs and entertaining activities for the children of Huntington Beach including monthly shows (such as ballets, musical performances, magic shows, and plays), an Authors Festival in January, a Festival of Folktales in June (which kicks off the library's Summer Reading Program), and a Holiday Tree Trimming Workshop in December.
The FOTCL raises money through several channels such as selling program tickets, T-shirts, and book bags. Our major fundraiser is the Taste of Huntington Beach held every April at the HB Sports Complex across the parking from the library.
The FOTCL meets the first Friday of the month at 9:00 AM at the Central Library in Room B (downstairs and to the right of the snack bar). Children are welcome at the meetings. If you are interested, you can be an active or supportive member by downloading the application or by filling out an application form in the Children’s Department of the Central Library. The tax-deductible yearly membership fee is $10.00.
For more information, stop by the Children's Desk at the Library or call us at 714-375-5107. You can also visit our main website at www.fotcl.org. Please join us as we share the joys of reading and writing with the children in our community!
