The Huntington Beach Police Department currently has 212 funded sworn positions.  These officers careers range from Patrol Officers, Detectives, Narcotic Investigators, Directed Enforcement Team, Gang Unit, SWAT, Beach Detail, Air Support Unit and Motorcycle Traffic Officers.

There are 121.5 civilian positions in the police department. Some of those are Parking Control Officers, Records Clerks, Communication Operators, Crime Scene Investigators and Detention Officers.

These individuals are responsible for providing law enforcement services to over 200,000 residents and 11 million visitors to Huntington Beach every year. All 32 square miles of the city and 8.5 miles of beaches are patrolled by the police department using cars, ATVs, motorcycles, helicopters and on foot.
