Public Comments – Public Comments - the Public Works Commission welcomes public comments on all items on this agenda or of community interest. Three minutes per person, time may not be donated to others. Commission on this date can take no action on any item not on the agenda. This is the time to address Commission regarding items of interest or agenda items other than public hearings. Communications on agenda items will be scheduled such that public comments may be received as close to 12:00 p.m., or later, as possible.

F. INFORMATION ITEMS

F-1. Active Capital Project Report – An update on active capital projects under construction, as well as those in the planning stage, is presented for the Commission's information.

F-2. Upcoming City Council Study Sessions - The City Council conducts public Study Sessions on the evenings of City Council meetings, normally beginning at 4:00 p.m., in Room B-8.  A tentative listing of upcoming sessions is submitted for the Commission’s information. 

F-3. Orange County Flood Control District Projects Update – At the request of the Commission an update of County Flood Control Projects within the City is presented along with the Proposed 7-Year Flood Control Projects Plan.

F-4. Sewer Lateral Program – Water/Sewer Rate Adjustments - A sewer rate study and the possibility of enhancing the Sewer Service Program with the addition of a Sewer Lateral Program was explored.  The proposed Sewer Lateral Program, adjustments to water rates and issues related to public notice requirements mandated by Proposition 218 was presented to City Council at the September 17, 2007 Study Session.  The presentation is being provided to the Commission as an Information Item.

 

G. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS

G-1. Safe Routes to School Project near Isaac L. Sowers Middle School (CC-1251) – Plans and specifications for the installation of traffic and pedestrian-related safety improvements in the vicinity of Isaac L. Sowers Middle School are in final preparation and will be ready for bid solicitation upon approval by the Acting Director of Public Works - Engineering.  Staff requests permission to advertise.

Funding Source: State grant fund and Local Gas Tax Funds.

Recommended Action: Recommend the City Council to authorize the Acting Director of Public Works – Engineering to advertise the Safe Routes to School Project in the vicinity of Isaac L. Sowers Middle School.
