On Sunday, June 5, from 9am to 3pm, the Marine Safety Division, of the Huntington Beach Fire Department will hold an Open House at Pier Plaza in support of National Beach Safety and Rip Current Awareness Week. Non-profit organizations like the Pacific Marine Mammal Center and Bolsa Chica Conservancy will participate with displays and handouts.
Working with the Huntington Beach Community Service ~ Beach Maintenance Division; static displays will include equipment needed to clean and maintain the beach so visitors can enjoy a safe pleasant experience. The Huntington Beach Police Department Helicopter Unit, Marine Safety Officers will simulate a rescue of an unconscious victim at 2 p.m.
The entire event will help Marine Safety in their mission to educate the public and raise awareness on beach and ocean safety.
