Development Projects

The City of Huntington Beach operates 3.5 miles of beach and one of the longest municipal piers in the state. Completed beach projects include the Beach Public Services Center, Lifeguard Tower Zero, pier restrooms, Pier Plaza and Lifeguard and Jr. Guard Headquarters buildings. Huntington Beach also has 70 parks. Recently completed projects include the Bluff Top Park improvements and the completion of the Edison Park Reconfiguration Master Plan.

Edison Park Reconfiguration

The city has completed conceptual plans to reconfigure Edison Community Park to accommodate youth sports fields and lights for softball, soccer and football. This project will address the need for additional youth sports facilities within the city. The master plan was completed in 2006 with plans and specifications to be completed in 2007.

LeBard Park

LeBard Park is located in the southeast section of the city. Two acres of the total five acres are currently undeveloped. The city is in the process of creating a conceptual master plan to include additional turf areas and picnic facilities for the undeveloped portion of the park. The master plan is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2007 with construction slated for 2008.

Pier Concession Buildings

The city completed Phase 1 of the Pier improvements in 2002 which included a new observation tower for Marine Safety (Tower Zero) and a new public restroom building. Phase II of the Pier improvements will include two permanent concession buildings which will complete the overall pier development.

Wardlow Park

The city recently purchased six acres of school property adjacent to Wardlow Park from the Fountain Valley School District. The city is planning to reconfigure Wardlow Park to accommodate on-site parking needed to serve the ball fields which are now located on city property.

Beach Restrooms

The city is in the initial planning stage to install permanent restrooms at the beach areas north of the Pier from 9th Street to Seapoint Avenue. The design and entitlement phase is scheduled for completion in early 2008, with construction starting in spring of 2008.
